Notice what is getting in the way

Stress and worry become a reason for assessment when they persist, feel difficult to control, or interfere with sleep, work, or relationships. Physical symptoms, avoidance, and use of alcohol or other substances to cope are also important to discuss.

Support is broader than one treatment

A clinician can help identify whether you are experiencing a primary anxiety disorder, anxiety associated with depression, or another condition. Psychotherapy, medication, routines, and other supports may be considered depending on that assessment.

Make coping strategies manageable

Keep a regular routine where possible, maintain supportive contact, and ask your clinician about practical ways to manage stress. These steps can support care without becoming another source of pressure.

If you are considering TMS

FDA-cleared treatment of anxiety symptoms accompanying major depressive disorder is distinct from treatment for a primary anxiety disorder. A consultation explains the proposed use, evidence, safety, and coverage.
